Good news for all simMarket customers: The well-known shop for flight simulator products continues their PayPal support. In April this year simMarket announced the end of PayPal as payment option and attributed this decision to business problems with the online payment service (We reported). However, the dispute has now been resolved as simMarket owner Miguel Blaufuks confirmed to flusinews.de. As a result, PayPal is available as a payment option as usual.

However, simMarket did not revise its original decision under pressure from customers. “It has absolutely nothing to do with that,” writes Miguel Blaufuks. In fact, other companies in the flight simulator industry have already had problems with the online payment service. A prominent example is Orbx. As early as December 2016, the development team discontinued PayPal support. At that time, the payment service had blocked the Orbx account and, according to John Venema, had not activated it for the time being even after providing the required documents. In contrast to simMarket, Orbx can only be paid by credit card.

simMarket is one of the largest and oldest online shops for flight simulator products. It is also by far the most popular place to buy new add-ons. This is the result of Navigraph’s FlightSim Community Survey 2018. The fact that PayPal is an important payment method for online shopping despite numerous alternatives was also shown by the reaction of some development teams. Shortly after simMarket reported on the problems with the company, LatinVFR opened its own shop.
