After the very surprising announcement and the release of an ATR 42 shortly afterwards (We reported), the South Americans at Carenado now surprise again with a model of the French aircraft manufacturer. With the Carenado ATR 72 it’s now time for the biggest plane of the family. More exactly, it will be a replica of an ATR 72-500. The aircraft is announced for both Prepar3D and FSX. Furthermore the add-on will be available soon. The announcement post can be found here on their Facebook page. It contains a total of six preview screenshots of both, the exterior model and the virtual cockpit.

More about the Carenado ATR 72

Also here the developers have obviously worked secretly quietly on the add-on, since today the very first announcement ever came to the project. And it already contains a lot of screenshots of the almost finished product. As often the Carenado ATR 72 will surely also be available for X-Plane 11 in a few weeks. Also for the Carenado ATR 42 we eagerly await the port for this Flight Simulator.

However, the ATR 72-500 has long since ceased to be a current aircraft. After the testing of the successor had already begun at the end of 2008, production has already been completely switched to the more modern ATR 72-600. If you prefer to fly this model, there is good news for you. Since mid 2018, Milviz are working on a conversion of this aircraft type for Prepar3D and FSX.
