Due to numerous complaints about performance issues, Lockheed Martin today released Hotfix 1 for Prepar3D v4.5. The free update is available for all users in their customer account. The hotfix also fixes some other bugs. On the one hand, the black PBR textures should no longer show up when boarding an aircraft. Furthermore, the change log also lists the fixes for system crashes when using virtual reality devices. More information about the update can also be found here in this Blog post at prepar3d.com.

Backgrounds to Prepar3D v4.5

Prepar3D v4.5 was originally released in April of this year (We reported). However, this simulator version didn’t really come with groundbreaking features. Instead, Lockheed Martin primarily optimized loading times for complex sceneries. This had become necessary due to more and more detailed products that came onto the market. Customers of Orbx sceneries in particular were affected and complained about loading times that often exceeded the ten-minute mark.

However, the update only partially solved the problems with loading times. The new version could actually shorten the loading times of the scenery itself. Many virtual pilots reported about long waiting times until the program starts, sudden simulator crashes as well as breakdowns of the frame rates. Users also wrote about blurred textures. Other users with a multi-monitor setup seemed to be particularly hard hit. Consequently, the hope remains that Hotfix 1 for Prepar3D v4.5 will now eliminate the complications.
