After the release of Munich Airport, Shortfinal Design unveiled its new project for X-Plane 11 this Saturday. This project is called SFD Global and undoubtedly represents a small revolution. Because the product is nothing less than a fundamental revision of the standard scenery of the flight simulator. Previously ThresholdX.net had reported exclusively about the project.

What’s SFD supposed to be?

SFD Global will not only deliver new ground textures for X-Plane 11, but also regional autogenous data. First of all, the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia are planned, further regions will follow later. The autogenous in the USA doesn’t want to revise Shortfinal Design, as the developer writes on X-Plane.org. There the standard autogen is already completely sufficient. Last but not least, the Add-On scenery should also contain worldwide known landmarks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

If you want to get a first impression of SFD Global in the meantime, you don’t have to wait for the release. With Japan Pro ShortFinal Design released a comparable product as freeware in December 2018 (We reported). Considering the current announcement, it is likely that the developer MisterX6 used this freeware scenery as a blueprint for his worldwide major project.
